Did you know the Lago Vista Independent School District (LVISD) provides free meals and free pre-kindergarten to illegal aliens?
This question was asked by a concerned parent who supplied the "Dear Parent/Guardian" letter from the Lago Vista Independent School District (LVISD) shown below.
Recently, Rick Perry got in a lot of trouble for supporting in-state tuition for illegal aliens. Many taxpayers, and especially many of those who are actually paying college tuition, thought it unfair that some people could obtain a discount simply because their parents happened to sneak across the border from outside the country. Texas shares United States borders with several states in addition to its foreign border with Mexico. How can anyone justify billing those who come across a United States border a higher cost than those who come across a foreign border? Shouldn't legal residents and United States citizens have any preferences in United States Colleges?
According to the parent, we seem to have a similar situation in the Lago Vista Independent School District (LVISD).
Are you paying for your child's, or grandchild's meals or pre-kindergarten? Perhaps you are paying too much. If your child is an illegal alien, it appears they can receive free meals and free pre-kindergarten.
Why would legal residents and United States tax payers pay more for their children than illegal alien parents pay for their children?
I don't know if Lago Vista Independent School District (LVISD) runs this program on their own, or if it is forced to do this by some outside entity such as the courts, the state or the federal government.
The bottom line is, it appears once again we're finding bad behavior gets rewarded with discounts and free services while good behavior is punished with costs. I am referring to behaviors of the "responsible" adults, not the children, who have no choice.
The concerned parent pointed out, "if my car and an illegal's car are caught speeding, or if we commit any crime, exactly the same , side by side, should I have to pay a ticket, or go to jail, while the illegal alien is rewarded with a free pass? That is no different than them charging me extra for things illegal aliens get for free. The illegals broke the law. I pay twice, I have to pay for my children, and I have to pay for their children too. What is their parent's responsibility for their own children?"
In the private sector, companies reward the customers they want to keep. In the public sector, on this topic, the governmental entities seem to be rewarding the lawbreakers.
No one wants a child to starve. But, that is a false argument. Lago Vista Independent School District (LVISD) does not supply meals or supply free pre-kindergarten to other children still living in their various native homelands. LVISD doesn't even supply meals or supply free pre-kindergarten to other children living in other U.S. States. An illegal alien's homeland is elsewhere; their children are only here because they were brought here illegally. LVISD does not pay for children there, so I would argue we should not be paying for illegal alien children here. Again, this may not be an LVISD problem; another entity could be causing this.
When will it be time to shut off the magnets for illegal aliens who have broken our laws, while making sure our doors are open wide and welcoming for legal immigration?
